Our first visit will take us to the Gandantegchinlin Monastery, the spiritual heart of Buddhism in Mongolia. This serene place houses an impressive 26-meter-tall Maitreya statue and is filled with the chanting of prayers by monks and faithful, offering a fascinating dive into Mongolian spirituality.

In the afternoon, we will explore downtown Ulaanbaatar, starting with Genghis Khan Square, an iconic place where the past and present meet. Surrounded by remarkable buildings such as the Government Palace, the National Theatre, and the Stock Exchange, this vast square is a key witness to the country’s modern history. You can appreciate the architecture, monuments, and the lively atmosphere of the capital.

At the end of the day, we’ll return to the hotel for a well-deserved rest before continuing your journey.

After a delicious breakfast, you will travel towards Mongolia's vast wild expanses. A 360 km (about 5 to 6 hours) drive will take you through grand landscapes to the Orkhon Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site considered the birthplace of the nomadic lifestyle.

Upon arrival in the Ölziit sum, you will be warmly welcomed by Naraa’s family, a Mongolian herding family living in perfect harmony with nature. They raise horses, yaks, sheep, and goats while raising their four children aged 8 to 16 years.

This morning, it’s time to say goodbye to the nomadic family that has warmly welcomed you over the past days. After these rich moments of sharing, we will head towards Karakorum, the former capital of the Mongol Empire.

  • Journey to Karakorum – A 1 to 2-hour trip through the magnificent landscapes of the Orkhon Valley will bring us to our yurt camp. Upon arrival, you can relax: take a shower, rest, and explore the surroundings.
  • Visit to Erdene Zuu Monastery – We will then explore Erdene Zuu, the oldest Buddhist monastery in Mongolia, founded in 1586 on the ruins of the former Mongol capital. This impressive site, surrounded by 108 white stupas, bears witness to the country's cultural and spiritual wealth.
  • Introduction to Mongolian calligraphy – In the afternoon, we will visit Gerlee, a master of Mongolian calligraphy. This will be a unique opportunity to engage with him on this fascinating traditional art. Both children and adults can try their hand at Mongolian writing, attempt to trace their first characters, and even create their own works.

Evening relaxation at the camp – After this day full of discoveries, return to the yurt camp for a relaxing evening under the starry sky of the steppe.

We will head towards Tövkhön Monastery, an iconic site nestled at the top of the wooded mountains of the Orkhon Valley.

  • Arrival at a nomadic family – Upon arrival, we will be welcomed by another herding family who will introduce us to their traditional way of life. This will be a privileged moment to exchange with them and immerse yourself further in Mongolian nomadic culture.
  • Hike in the surrounding area or help with sheep herding – In the afternoon, we will take a walk through the rolling landscapes surrounding the region. This is a beautiful opportunity to explore the wild nature and admire the serene beauty of the Mongolian steppes and forests.

Today, we will set off for a 3 to 4-hour hike to Tövkhön Monastery, a site perched at 2,312 meters above sea level, which was once the meditation place of the famous spiritual master Zanabazar.

  • A walk through nature – This trail crosses magnificent forests and mountains, offering breathtaking panoramic views. Along the way, we will take the time to appreciate the silence and harmony of this sacred environment.
  • Discovering the monastery – Upon reaching the summit, we will visit the 17th-century monastery, an important site in Mongolian Buddhism. It is here that Zanabazar, the first spiritual leader of the Mongols, found inspiration for his artistic and philosophical works.
  • A moment of peace and reflection – Tövkhön is an ideal place for meditation, admiring the surrounding landscapes, and feeling the spiritual energy that permeates this historic site. After this enriching day, we will return to the nomadic family for a night under the yurt.

This morning, we will take a 1-hour drive to our next host family: Baaska’s family.

  • Meeting with Baaska and his family – Baaska is a yak herder and an environmental protector who lives in harmony with nature. He and his family, including three children aged 3 to 18, will warmly welcome you to their camp located on one of the most beautiful banks of the Orkhon River.
  • Immersion in nature – Here, you will discover the way of life of yak herders and the richness of the local ecosystem. You will observe these iconic animals up close and better understand their role in the lives of nomads.
  • Visit to the famous Orkhon waterfall – The Orkhon waterfall, one of Mongolia's natural wonders, is located just 15 km from the camp. This is a great opportunity to explore this mythical place the next day!

After a day full of encounters and discoveries, we will spend the night under the yurt, lulled by the sound of the river.

This morning, we will set out for a hike to the Orkhon Waterfall, one of Mongolia's most impressive natural sites.

  • Hike to the waterfall – Located 15 km from the camp, this beautiful 16-meter-high waterfall offers a spectacular landscape. Along the way, we will cross lush meadows, follow the Orkhon River, and enjoy stunning panoramas. It’s a perfect stop for observing the local wildlife and taking magnificent photos!
  • Relaxing by the waterfall – Upon arrival, you will be able to admire this natural wonder, refresh yourself in the crystal-clear water, or simply relax while enjoying the enchanting setting.

Evening immersion at the nomadic family’s camp – After a full day, we will join Baaska and his family in their daily activities:

  • Milking cows – A truly authentic experience where you’ll learn to milk a cow with the family’s helpful guidance.

This morning, we will head towards the north of the Gobi Desert, in the protected region of Elsen Tasarkhai, at the foot of Mount Khögno Khan. This impressive landscape, where sand dunes meet mountains, offers a spectacular view of the vast desert.

  • Arrival at Davaasüren and Doljin’s family – We will be welcomed by Davaasüren, a camel herder, and his wife Doljin, a traditional nomadic family. They live in this remote area and will provide us with a full immersion into their daily life. You will have the opportunity to learn more about camel herding and share unforgettable moments with them.

In the afternoon, we will embark on a camel ride through the impressive sand dunes of the Gobi Desert, a unique way to explore this vast desert expanse. The experience is both fascinating and soothing, moving to the rhythm of the camels' footsteps.

  • Excursion to Övgön Khiid Monastery – After this camel adventure, we will take a hike (or a vehicle trip depending on your preference) to the Övgön Khiid Monastery, a spiritual site located on the slopes of Mount Khögno Khan. This historic monastery is a peaceful meditation site where one can feel a deep connection with nature and Mongolian Buddhist culture.

The day will end under the desert sky, with a traditional dinner shared with our hosts.

Today, we will drive for 3 hours to one of Mongolia’s most iconic natural reserves, Khustai Park, located in the steppes.

  • Khustai Park and Przewalski’s horses – This park is famous for its mission to conserve Przewalski's horses, the last wild horses of Asia. These horses, which were once on the brink of extinction, are now reintroduced and protected in this natural environment. You will have a unique opportunity to observe them in their natural habitat – a fascinating experience for nature and animal lovers.
  • Arrival at Ganchuluun’s family – In the evening, we will continue our adventure and arrive at Ganchuluun's home, a nomadic herder who lives with his wife Siylegmaa and their two children. They raise over 1,000 animals, including sheep, goats, yaks, and horses.
  • Immersion with Ganchuluun’s family – After our arrival, you will be invited to discover the authentic nomadic lifestyle. You can participate in the family’s daily activities, such as feeding the animals, milking cows, or learning herd management techniques.

Evening under the yurt – We will spend the night under the yurt, sharing a traditional Mongolian meal and hearing stories and legends from our host family.

This morning, we will begin our journey back to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival, you will have the opportunity to do some last-minute shopping and buy typical Mongolian souvenirs. The local markets are filled with handcrafted products, traditional clothing, and unique keepsakes to bring home.

  • Mongolian art performance – In the evening, we will attend a Tumen Ekh performance, a group of Mongolian traditional art masters. Their show highlights traditional dances, songs, and music, as well as the unique Mongolian throat singing technique, which impresses with its rich sound.

Relaxation at the hotel – After this magical evening, we will return to the hotel for a well-deserved night’s rest before concluding this unforgettable journey.
